What is a primed internal door?
A primed internal door has already been treated with a layer of primer, but it still needs to be painted before installation. On the other hand, pre-finished or fully-finished doors come primed, painted, and ready to be fitted, saving you time and effort. Ensure you choose the right door type to suit your needs and preferences.
Although a new primed door may seem ready to hang, it still requires painting. To ensure the necessary coverage on all sides, it is advisable to paint the door before hanging. Don't skip this crucial step for a professional finish.
White Doors
White primed doors refer to doors that have been pre-treated with a base coat of white primer. However, they still need to be fully finished before installation.
Painting a white primed door allows you to customise the colour as desired. If you want light coloured or white interior doors then starting with a white base is wise.
Internal white doors give your home a light and bright feel that can help rooms feel more spacious. Choosing white primed internal doors can save you work whilst still allowing for customisation. They are ideal if you'd like a specific finish or if you want to opt for an off-white shade.
Black & Grey Doors
We also offer black and grey primed doors if you want to add a final top coat of a darker colour. These are ideal for creating a modern look and drawing they eye through your room.
For black interior doors, the best paint finish is a high-gloss or semi-gloss. These finishes reflect light, making the room appear brighter, especially if it has limited natural light. Additionally, a glossy finish complements metallic furnishings and accents nicely. Opt for gloss to enhance the beauty of your black door.
Styles & Options
We offer a range of styles from traditional to contemporary so you can match your decor. Whether you're looking for internal white primed doors with glazing or black primed fire doors, we have options available.
Our classic styles with 4 or 6 panels are the perfect choice for traditional homes, whilst glazed modern designs complement a contemporary interior. Whatever your style, your new door awaits. Your choice of colours is endless, as you can decorate these primed doors as you desire.
Specifications
Most of our primed doors have a solid core and engineered construction. However, we do offer budget-friendly moulded doors with a hollow core too. You can choose the right option to make your decor changes as simple and affordable as possible.
Finishing your Primed Doors
Pre-primed doors still benefit from adding an undercoat before applying the topcoat. The undercoat ensures better adhesion and durability of the paint, providing a smooth and even finish. Skipping the undercoat may result in the paint peeling or chipping over time. Therefore, it is recommended to use an undercoat even on primed interior doors. However, your doors won't need sanding or priming.
